Your partner in Evidence-Based Care

At Body of Health, we are committed to providing excellent, evidence-based care. This means integrating the best available evidence with our clinical expertise and your individual values to create a treatment plan that is right for you. We believe in a partnership approach to your health.

The Three Pillars of Evidence-Based Medicine

Peer-Reviewed Research

This involves using the most current, highest-quality scientific studies to guide clinical decisions. This app is designed to help with this pillar by providing concise summaries of clinical prediction rules (CPRs).

Clinician Experience

This is the wisdom and skill a clinician develops through years of practice. It allows us to recognize patterns, understand the nuances of your condition, and apply research findings to your unique situation.

Patient Values & Preferences

You are the expert on you. Your personal goals, beliefs, and life circumstances are central to the decision-making process. We listen to what's important to you to tailor your care plan.

Understanding Levels of Evidence
Not all evidence is created equal. Here's a quick guide to the terms used in this app.

Level 4: Derivation

This is the first step where researchers identify a set of predictive factors from a single group of patients.
Practical Meaning: It's a promising but preliminary rule. Use it with clinical judgment as a guide, not a definitive command.

Level 3: Diagnostic Study

At this level, researchers compare the results of clinical tests to a "gold standard" or reference test to measure their accuracy. These are often case-control or cohort studies.
Practical Meaning: This tells us how good a specific test or cluster of tests is at identifying a condition. It helps in making an accurate diagnosis.

Level 2: Validation

The rule is tested on a new, different group of patients. If it still works, its credibility and our confidence in it increases significantly.
Practical Meaning: This is a more robust rule that you can apply with greater confidence in the right patient population.

Level 1: Systematic Review

Multiple high-quality studies on a topic are gathered, assessed, and synthesized. This represents the highest level of evidence.
Practical Meaning: The conclusions are very strong. These rules are widely accepted and should be a standard part of clinical practice.

How to Use This Guide

Use the navigation panel on the left to explore CPRs by body region. Click on a category to expand it, then select a specific rule to view its details, including predictive variables, and application notes.
